History of kartik fine arts
The history of the Kartik fine Arts goes back to the early seventies. Tracing the history of Kartik fine arts is like tracing the history of Sri. R. Rajagopal, the founder and secretary- kartik Fine arts.
Rajagopal owes credit as founder of two great institutions for the promotion of fine arts and he is the only person who has done 60 years of service to fine arts. KFA feels honoured by celebrating his 60 years of service to fine arts on 10.10.10 at Bhartiya vidya bhavan.
1. Mr.Rajagopal was the founder and secretary of the Mylapore Fine arts club till 1974. It was his dream and vision that MFAC should own the leased land and that a permanent auditorium to be constructed. It was a painful decision for him to leave the organization with his true friends due to a difference of opinion... The almighty decision was perhaps, to start another cultural organization, an unfinished dream.
2. Kartik fine arts: - Rajagopal and his team of life time friends who stuck with him thick and thin, namely MRK, Ramanujam, Sangu, and AVJ who have been toiling with him for the growth and success of MFAC felt that steps should be taken to develop a cultural institution for promotion of fine arts on similar lines of MFAC.
The idea took a definite shape with Sri.K. Ramachandran, Partner, Tarapore & Co., and Sri. M.N. Seshagiri General Manager United India Insurance Company Limited, joining as Vice Presidents. Kartik Fine Arts was born on 14.04.1975, with Sri.T.T. Vasu as its first President.
The office of the sabha was located at the residence of R. Rajagopal and programs were conducted at R.R.Sabha Hall
Shri A.V.S. Raja succeeded Shri T. T. Vasu as President, in the year 1989 under the commendable aegis of whom the sabha scaled new heights.
Kartik Fine Arts stole the maximum limelight and exceptional public accolade in 1996 when Shri L. Sabaratnam adorned the post of Chairman of the Sabha. Under his Midas touch, kartik has grown in leaps and bounds touching milestones year after year.
KARTIK RAJAGOPAL HALL:- Shri. N. Radhakrishnan of Tarapore & company was kind enough to modernize the 1st floor of our trust office building on Sringeri mutt road, as a mini hall. It is named as “Kartik Rajagopal Hall” for conducting mini chamber music concerts, discourses, and for drama rehearsals. The hall was inaugurated on 14th April 2010, by Sri. L.Sabretnam, Chairman kartik fine arts.
KFA has a membership patronage of more than 1000+ members who are all very well versed with carnatic music, dance and drama. Kartik Fine Arts stole the maximum limelight and exceptional public accolade in 1996 when Shri L. Sabaratnam adorned the post of Chairman of the Sabha
