Kartik Fine Arts

36th year Art festival 2010 - 9th December, 2010

Neat Rendering

The Kartik Fine Arts 4.40 pm concert today commenced with Malladi Brothers singing “Vandheham Jagath Vallabham” a composition by Annamacharya in Kanda Chaapu was well sung.

“Evare Ramaiya Sari”, only composition by Saint Thygaraja in Kangeya Bhushani Ragam was a rare piece presented by the duo. The next number a keerthanam in Atana Ragam a composition by Neela Kanta Sivan. The mridangist of the evening maestro Padmashri Umayalpuram K. Sivaramn was excellent with the maestro giving the tune of a Damaroo even with his Mridangam especially for this Shiva piece. The neraval and thala patterns were wonderful.

The brothers have a great tradition by learning from their father and also under the tutelage of Nedanuri Krishnamurthy. The “Janaki Ramana Dasaratha”, a composition by Vanamamalai Jeer was well sung. This was preceded by a virutham in place of Lord Rama.

The performance was well planned with unusual composition, which the audience was able to listen.
